Real Days and Imaginary Days

**   RaNdoM StuFF   **

You can only live one day at a time. Whatever day you are living in is “today.” Yesterday and tomorrow are real only in your imagination.

Don’t ruin today by believing it’s the same rotten day you experienced yesterday. It isn’t! Yesterday is gone. Today has not yet been determined. You have a lot to say about how it will turn out.

You can handle the stuff of your life in a new way. You can start down a new path. You can realize that all things are possible through the knowledge of God.

I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ (Philippians 4:12-13 NLT).

So, don’t let yesterday ruin today. But also don’t waste today by waiting for tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the wonderful future you dream of, if you’ve learned how to make the most of your “todays.” When tomorrow comes, that’s what it will be—another “today.”

Today is real. It’s the only day you have. Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow never comes—when it arrives, it has turned into today. But that’s a good thing. Each “today” is a gift, an opportunity.

This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24 NLT).

Making It Personal

  • Are you excited yet about what you and God will make of today?
  • Are you uncertain how to handle your todays so you can be glad in them?  The apostle Paul (quoted above in the Philippians verses) learned how by following Christ. Jesus says to you too, “Let me teach you [how to live] . . . and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:29 NLT).
